The basic function of  Monitoring & Evaluation section of LGED is to measure actual against planned deliverables by the projects; however current scope is limited to gather relevant vital information related to progress and evaluation of all development project activities and to regularly send it to different Ministries/organisations, IMED, ERD, Planning Commission, donor agencies, honorable Members of Parliament, honorable Ministers and others. The section also prepares progress reports on the schemes committed by the Honorable Prime Minister, furnishes information according to the requirements of the Standing Committees of the Parliament and other committees, and response to the LGED related questions/notices to the Ministers sought by the honorable Members of the National Parliament (The Jatiyo Shangsad). M&E section ensures information flow to/from projects and district offices. Generally, following activities are performed by the M&E section:

1.  Formulation of Annual Development Program (ADP).
2.  Formulation of Revised Annual Development Program (RADP).
3.  Preparation of draft ADP and RADP including meeting with project managers for review and finalization.
4.  Preparation of report on questions and answers of National Parliament.
5.  Preparation of reports on the measures taken on the recommendations of various committee meetings of the National Assembly.
6.   Preparation of program and minutes of annual review meetings on the activities of LGED.
7.   Formulation of Annual Development Program (ADP).
8.   Formulation of Revised Annual Development Program (RADP).
9.   Preparation of Annual Performance Agreement (APA) reports.
10. Monitoring of actions taken on reports published in newspapers.
11.  Monitoring the investigation report of developmental work
12.  Update of inspection report of Divisional Additional Chief Engineer, Regional Superintending         Engineer, 20inspection teams of LGED and Project Managers
13.   Preparation of report regarding taking action on the inspection report of the inspection team of the Ministry.
14.   IMED inspection report update
15.   Data entry in ibas software
16.   Monitoring Project Completion Report (PCR).
17.   Providing input in preparation of annual report of LGED.
18.   Preparation of report on social safety net
19.   Preparation of economic survey report (English and Bengali).
20.   Report on action taken on recommendations of Cabinet meeting.
21.   Report on action taken on the recommendations of the District Commissioners' Conference
22.   Proceedings related to the minutes of the monthly coordination meeting of the Ministry.
23.   Preparation of minutes of various meetings related to MTBF and budget formulation
24.   Preparation of monthly/quarterly progress reports of ADP projects, other ministries and revenue projects/programmes
25.   Preparation of monthly23-column and 8-column progress reports
26.   Providing information on His Excellency the President's speech in the National Parliament
27.   Preparation of monthly reports as promised and directed by Hon'ble Prime Minister.
28.   Providing information on the speech of the Hon'ble Finance Minister in the National Parliament
29.   Preparation of gender reports
30.   Preparation of information requested immediately from the Ministry, IMED, Planning Commission, ERD, other Ministries, Senior Officials of LGED and donor agencies.
