Major research activities of GIS unit are as follows:

• “Investigation of sedimentation process and stability of the area around the cross-dams in the Meghna Estuary” jointly conducted with BUET and University of Tokyo with the assistance of JAXA.

• ‘Resource Profiles, extrapolation domains and land-use patterns’ in the process of establishing a geo-referenced database for the coastal zone of Bangladesh and facilitation the out-scaling of technologies through the identification of target domains and land use planning under CPWF; jointly with IRRI Analyzing& Mapping physical accessibility in Bangladesh with IRRI , Philippine.2003

• Indicator mapping of CHT districts in collaboration with ICIMOD, Nepal. 2004

• Spatial Poverty Mapping of  Dhaka Metropolitan Area, 2005

• Preparation of Off-Grid mapping for Sustainable Rural Energy under Sustainable Environment Management Programme ,UNDP
