Mymensingh, Sylhet and Faridpur Areas Request for Application
of Individual Support Staff 1.
The Government of the People’s Republic of
Bangladesh has received an ODA Loan from the Government of Japan to implement
the project “Small Scale Water Resources Development Project in Greater
Mymensingh, Sylhet and Faridpur Areas” and intends to apply part of the
proceeds of this loan to payments under the Contract
to provide services by the individual support staff under Small Scale
Water Resources Development Project in Greater Mymensingh, Sylhet and Faridpur
Areas. 2.
The Project will implement approximately 215
sustainable stakeholder driven small scale water resources development
subprojects in 15 districts of Greater Mymensingh, Sylhet and Faridpur Areas
over a period of 6 years (July 2007 - June 2013). To ensure the effective
implementation of the subprojects under this project, the services of the
following Individual support staff are immediately required:
. 3. Qualification
and Experience (a)
Social Science Specialist: The Social
Science Specialist should hold a Masters’ degree in Social Sciences, preferably
in Sociology or economics and have at least 10 years general experience in social,
gender, poverty alleviation and community participation issues, including at least
5 years specific experience related to participatory water resources management.
Prior experience on evaluating and monitoring of Participatory Rural Appraisals
(PRAs) and Feasibility Studies of participatory water resources management projects
will be given priority. (b) Senior
Surveyor: The Senior Surveyor should at
least hold a Diploma in Engineering (Civil/Survey Technology) / Science
Graduate of 15 years of experience or Certificate Course in Surveying with 20
years experience in topographical survey of water resources projects, including
preparing maps and drawings of the survey works using AutoCAD, and quantity
estimation. Specific experience with survey of canals, drainage khals,
embankments, hydraulic structures and land topography with ground elevation is
a pre-requisite. (c) Senior
CAD Operator: The Senior CAD (Computer Aided Drawing) Operator should hold a Diploma
in Engineering/graduate with 15 years of experience or Certificate Course in
Drafting with 20 years experience as CAD Operator in water resources projects.
Specific experience with AutoCAD program in preparing drawings of canal, khals,
embankments, hydraulic structures, topographical maps with spot ground levels
and contours, site plans and maps is a pre-requisite. 4. The Local Government Engineering
Department (LGED) now invites eligible candidates to apply for the positions.
Applicants are invited to provide information indicating that they are
qualified to perform the services. The Request for Applications (RFA) of all
the positions will be available at the office of the undersigned. 5.
The
individual support staff will be selected in accordance with the procedures set
out in the Public Procurement Rules 2008. The interested candidates may obtain
further information from the office of the undersigned. 6.
Interested
applicants shall be submitted their expressions of Interest in accordance with
the “Request for Application” in a sealed envelope, delivered to the address of
the undersigned shown above on or before 26 May 2010 up to 3:00 p.m. local time
and clearly marked with Position/Title for which the applicants are applying under
Small Scale Water Resources Development Project in Greater Mymensingh, Sylhet
and Faridpur Areas.
