Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI)

for

Bridge Structural Design Engineer (National)

The People’s Republic of Bangladesh received a credit (5107-BD) from the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit for payments under the contract for Bridge Structural Design Engineer for Proposed Bridge Construction, Rehabilitation and Maintenance Program (BCRMP) under Second Rural Transport Improvement Project (RTIP-II).

The main objective of this assignment is to analyze and prepare Structural Design and Drawings of different type of bridges like RCC girder bridge, pre-stressed concrete girder bridge, box girder bridge, slab bridge, etc. and design of bank protection work, road side slope protection work, river training work etc. needed for the proposed BCRMP in particular and for LGED in general in consultation with LGED officials and other professionals.

The qualifications and experience of the consultants required for the assignment are as follows:

a) No. of the Post: One

b) Duration of the Service: 12 (Twelve) months

c) Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from any recognized University of Bangladesh or an Equivalent Degree.

d) Experience & adequacy for the assignment:

· Minimum Relevant working Experience: Must have minimum 5 years working experience in the relevant field of structural design of bridge. Experience in Design of Pre-Stress Concrete Structure design will be appreciated.

· Should have experiences in planning and performing structural analysis and design of bridges (including foundation, substructures & superstructures), culverts and other related structures like River Training Works, landing Jetty, road protective works and retaining wall etc.

· Should have knowledge on using infrastructure standard code of practice (AASHTO, ACI etc.) for analysis and structural design of structure as stated above.

· Should have sound knowledge on CAD drawing, plan, section, perspective view, etc. of Bridge and other infrastructure.

· Computer proficiency in structural analysis and design with application of appropriate software like STAAD-Pro, MIDAS, SAP-2000, 2D & 3D Modeling by the application of appropriate software and Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint etc.

· Should have experience as a supervision Engineer of Bridge construction.

· Training in the relevant area.

e) Suitability:

· Ability to impart training to the project staff.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Bangla and English.

The consultant will be selected in accordance with the selection of individual consultants procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 2011.

Expressions of Interest shall be submitted by 3:00 PM on 30/06/2016, in sealed envelope delivered to Project Director, Second Rural Transport Improvement Project (RTIP-II), LGED Bhaban (Level-11), LGED, Dhaka-1207 and be clearly marked “Request for Expressions of Interest for Selection of Bridge Structural Design Engineer".

The Client reserves the right to accept or reject any/all Expression of Interest (EOI).
