Brief Description of the Assignment |
1.
Develop an
Environmental Baseline with indicators 2.
Identify the
potential impact of climate change on pond fisheries. 3.
Identify the
potential environmental impact of a large scale expansion of pond fisheries,
and suggest mitigation measures. 4.
Identify the
exotic species present in ponds and assess the (potential) impact of their
presence on the local natural population species. 5.
A database and analysis of the capture and culture
fish habitat and production, fish species composition, fish migratory route,
fishing gears, fish biodiversity of the study area, with particular focus on
pond fisheries. 6.
Identify
the Important Environmental Components (IECs) and expected changes in the
IECs due to large scale pond fisheries. 7.
An
assessment of the key climate variables affecting pond fish culture as well
as aquatic species, and their potential impact on IECs. 8.
A summary
of the potential impacts of climate change and the scale-up of pond
fisheries, both positive and negative on the IECs. 9.
An
assessment of the physical, chemical, biological, social and economic
significance and implications of the predicted impacts. 10. Development of a detailed plan for environmental
management of large scale expansion of pond fisheries and 11. Propose climate
change adaptation measures to be incorporated in the large scale expansion of
pond fisheries. The study should cover 5 (five)
project districts of Netrokona, Kishoreganj, Brahmanbaria, Habiganj and
Sunamganj that includes 28 project Upazilas. |

Experience, Resources & Delivery
Capacity Required |
Experience:
The team leader must have a total of 15 years of experience, out of which at
least 8 years’ experience in relevant study, also in the field of
Environment, climate change, Water Resources,
Fishery, Ecology, Biodiversity with national or international
development agency; working with local communities and governmental officials
as well as designing studies and research. Resource: The
team leader must have Masters or higher degree in Environment Science,
Climate change, Fishery, Ecology, development studies,
Social science, Engineering or relevant discipline and should be strong in
computer and communication skills (oral, writing and presentational). The
firm should have competent data collector, data analyst, Water Quality analyst, field
supervisor and must be financially solvent to carry out the study. The team
leader should process skill in developing tools for various studies. Capacity: The
firm must have experience of working with Environment, Fishery, Water Resources, Climate Change and
capacity to deliver the required results and reports of the study following
the Terms of Reference (ToR). In addition, the firm
should have staff, experts/specialist with relevant experience who can
deliver the services to fulfill the requirements of HILIP, LGED. Working
experience in Haor areas and evidence of undertaking similar assignments and
production of quality results will be an advantage. Good track record and
reputation of conducting similar assessment for reputed national and
international organization. |
