Narayanganj district town stands on the bank of the river Shitalaksha and located at 23°34’ N 90°27’E & 24°15 ’N 90°59’ E. Hindu leader Bikol Lal Pande bought this area from East India Company at 1766. He donated the land in the name of God Narayan. Therefore this area was named as Narayanganj.
