Cox’s Bazar city stands on the bank of Bay of Bengal and located at 23.30◦-21.56◦N, 91.50◦-92.23◦E. Ancient name of Cox’s bazar was Bakoli. Mid seventeenth’s name was PENGWA. The Rakhyne work PENGWA means yellow flower. Burmese king Monwaing attacked Cox’s Bazar in 1784. He killed the Arakanese king and took control of the area.
