Lakshmipur is a small district situated on the south east part of Bangladesh. It is under Chittagong Division. To its west is chandpur, it its east is Noakhali and to its south and west flows the Meghna river with to its other bank are Bhola and Barisal district. In fact small rivers and Canals rooming mined Lakshimpur district are surrounded by Meghna. This Lakshimpur district town as the fade it today consist of the southern part of Banchhanagor Monga, Some part of adjacent Shansheralead and Mojupur Monzas all these are on the banks of out it me great Rahamat Khali river. In 1979 Lakshimpur Police Station was raised into a new sub-division was again elevated into a new district, named Lakshimpur on 28th February, 1984 last. In 2006 Ad last, a new upazilla named Kamal nagar wads farmed with some unions of Ramgoti Upazila. Lakshimpur has now 4 municipalitles, 58 union councils, 514 mouzas and 474 villages. The district containes a total area of 1,534.7 square Kilometres.


Heritage/Tradition / Habitation/Dwellings :
At the time of the East India Company, Lakshimpur had been rich in salt and cotton industries. These industries were controlled by stalk houses and Kuti Baris. The Kuti Baris of Shahapur, Jacksin and Shahebgong of northern Raipar used to control the silk and cotton trades. They were also engaged in inspiring the local people in Neel Cultivation. In trades and commerce the Meghna river Dakatia River, Rahmat Khali River, Bhadanigonj Canal, Bhulua Canal and Zairdone canal used to played important roles at the time. The chief trade centers of the district were Raipur Sonapur, Bara Kheri, Lakshimpur, Dalal Bazar, Bhawani gonj, Tearigonj and Farashgonj. In 1870 Ad. Muniff court was established at Lakshimpur. Then the justices and Lawyers community brild up Lakshimpur as a potential town. They eventually establish at Lakshmipur as English School (Lakshmipur model High School) a town hall, a public library, Bani Rangaloy audition and a Bar Library. The Gold smith- Area had been the forbidden area for drinks and prostitutes for the urban people. The renowned historical sights and places of Lakshimpur are the Zamindars Estates of Dalal Bazar, Kamamklafa, Sreermpur (Ramgonj), Karpara (Ramgonj); Azim Shah Daerah Sharif, Rainpur Chunun Tea Zamindar Bari, Shayesta Nagor, Ray Bahadur Pearilal Roy Chowdhury Bari and Haidargonj Tamizauddin Howlader Bari. The ancient sports of heritage are Tita Khan Zame Mosque, Dhola Kandi Mosque, Motka Mosque, Zeener Mosque, L.M. High School, Sonaton Hori Shava and Chandipur Asram of Ramgonj, Zadalyrur Asram, Miran Shah Majar, Shampur majar, the Asram of Bura Karta of Ramgoti etc.
Habitation/Dwellings
This are was densely populated during the period of Bhulua Raj. They brought people form adjacent Dhaka (Bik Rampur) and Barisal (Chandra Island or Bakala) district to settle them here.
