Project Implementation Strategy

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives(MOLGRD&C) will be responsible for overall implementation of the project. LGED has established a Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) headed by a Project Director and other associated staff both at LGED HQ and field. They are responsible for carrying out day-to-day project activities. They are also assisted by management, design, supervision, financial management, environmental and social management consultant, institutional development expert, road safety specialist and social scientist. A Project Coordinator, having the rank of Superintending Engineer (currently an Additional Chief Engineer providing the technical supports),under the Chief Engineer, LGED, will be responsible for the oversight coordination and supervision of project activities.
