1. Improvement of khas canals
The project emphasizes on the improvement of khas canals/dead rivers to provide for appropriate investment opportunity towards employment generation through income generating activities like fishing, ducking, vegetable production and other related and applicable economic activities. A total of 768 canals (a total of 1700 Kms) have been considered for improvement under this project. Reformation of these canals/dead rivers shall include re-excavation, Ghatla/Overpass construction in applicable cases and tree plantation by the side of the embankment.
2. Improvement ofPonds/Dighies
In order to provide for appropriate investment opportunity towards employment generation through income generating activities like fishing, ducking, vegetable production and other related and applicable economic activities a total of 2698 (a total of 1900 acres) ponds/dighies with have been considered under this project. Improvement of these Ponds/dighies shall include re-excavation, and tree plantation by the side of the embankment.
3. Construction of Ghatla/Ramp
Improvement of these ponds/dighies shall also include construction of Ghat as per practical requirement. Repair and/or rehabilitation of existing ramps/ghats will also be considered to ensure optimum usability especially for expected beneficiaries.
4. Tree Plantation
To enhance environmental integrity and prevent harmful impact of climate change, long variety of trees with preference to Palm trees will be planted by the sides of improved canals and ponds/dighies. Of course fruit trees especially for pond sides will also be considered.
