Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project: District: Tangail (IRIDP-Tangail)

Objective

The Main Objectives of the Project are:

a) The total amount of roads in 12 upazilas of Tangail district is 9827.00 km. Out of that, paved roads amount to 2493.00 km (25.37%). Out of the remaining 7335.00 km of unpaved roads, the proposed project covers 700.98 km (7.13%) of upazila, union and rural roads, along with the construction of bridges and culverts, bringing the 12 upazilas of Tangail district under the road network, including Bangabandhu Bridge and Jamalpur. Development of overall communication system including Economic Zone, Mymensingh, Gazipur and Dhaka districts.

b) Above all, as per the election manifesto of the government, with the aim of implementing 'My Village My City', through the development of rural infrastructure (roads, bridges and markets) and communication systems, businesses, industries, social centers, markets, health centers, agriculture, educational institutions and other service providers. By increasing the facility of transportation to the institution, the benefits of the city will be delivered to the village level.

c) Short and long term job creation, improvement of social and economic conditions and reduction of transport cost/time through road rehabilitation.
