Construction of 04 Bridges on Bakshiganj and Dewanganj Upazila under Jamalpur District Project

Objective

In the line with the national policies like i) Outline Perspective Plan, ii) Sixth Five Year Plan, iii) Millennium Development Goal, iv) National Rural Development Policy 2001, the Large Bridge Construction Project is aimed to contribute to the overall goal of promoting economic growth and reducing poverty in Jamalpur district. Toward this end, the Project objectives are as follows;

i) Overall improvement of transport network of Jamalpur District to reduce transport cost, improve marketing system, increase production and marketing facilities of agricultural produces for socio-economic development of the project area through construction of 4 bridges on 3 most important Growth centre connecting roads (UZR)

ii) Improvement of the physical facilities of growth centre in order to ensure fair price of agricultural products and thereby provide incentive to increase agricultural production, assist enhancement of rural economic and commercial activities.

iii) Connect important places of Upazila and every Union with Union Parishad and next higher road network.

iv) Assist in rural poverty alleviation by involving rural people in economic and social activities through development of rural infrastructure and creation of short and long-term employment opportunities in the farm and off farm sector.

v) To improve the environment through providing sufficient opening of bridges and tree plantation by the both sides of approach roads.
