Existing Logistics/Equipment/Resources:
IWRM (O&M) Unit facilitates in ensuring proper Monitoring and Operation & Maintenance of implemented infrastructure of within a implemented sub-project for sustainable water resources management in collaboration with Local Government Institution (LGI) the community with due attention to all environmental and social issues; thus offers a number of technical skills, equipment and system support.
Equipment:
IWRM unit provides computers, printers, scanners, database Servers, wireless network, plug-ins for personal laptops, printed books, journals and on-line services & learning resources. The Unit has established a database software (IWRM MIS) for handed over 1120 sub-projects and made Arc View, Oracle, GIMS and EIMS software available. It also provide Total station machines and RTK GPS facility with support from development projects.
Human Resources & Training:
IWRM unit has a number of contracted professionals i.e. Civil Engineer, Water Structure Designer, Hydrologist, Sociologist, Gender and Development Specialist, Safeguards Specialist, System Analyst, MIS Analyst, Agronomist, Aqua culturist and GIS Analyst engaged in ensuring smooth implementation of SSWR subprojects and their sustainable management. They also provide training services to field level officials directly involved in preparation, implementation and maintenance of subprojects. In addition, IWRM unit facilitates in providing the training to Water Management Co-operative Association (WMCA) to improve their capability in institutional management, capital formation, credit management, sustainable agricultural and fisheries production, improved farm practices and environmental management.
IWRM unit arrange extensive training activities for the WMCA O&M (Operation & Maintenance) sub-committee members to perform regular O&M for the completed sub-projects handed-over to them. With support from the relevant departments e.g. Cooperative, Agricultural Extension, Fisheries IWRMU also carry out the training need assessments, curriculum development and preparation of training materials. A number of training program are included in the LGED training calendar.
