LGED has implemented around 1123no’s of small scale water resources management subprojects and learned thefollowing lessons which may lead to implement the project more efficiently:
1. Combining PRA and FS(Feasibility Study) within a single contract to reduce over-lap andimplementation period. The time requiredfor PRAs was too long and information collected was duplicated to some extentin the feasibility studies. The PRA lengthened subproject preparation time andincreased project costs. The preparation time and costs can be reduced with PRAand feasibility study by the same consulting farm in one go in the name of PRA&. FS.
2. Trainingto Union Parisad (UP) members on water resources, institutional development andmanagement and subproject O&M will be given to promote WMCAs organizationand to maintain good relationship between/among the UP and the WMCAs forsustainable O&M.
3. The MIS maintained by the IWRM Unit needs to be regularly updates forinformation, management and evaluation of investments in SSW subprojects.
The lessons learntfrom those projects with respect to implementation process will make theproject more successful.
